Trifecta: Trifextra week Ninety-Two.
This weekend the Trifextra challenge:
In The Scorpio Races, author Maggie Stiefvater writes, “It is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.” Give us the next thirty-three words of this story, as you imagine it. Take it wherever you like, but make it original and make it 33 words exactly.
…he was the one this time around.
running for his life, gust of wind
razor blade across his skin.
his shoe unties…he trips.
there’s no where to hide from
their thirsty daggers.
Frightening to be running for life and woe is him as he trips on his own shoelaces-dark humour there!Terrific writing:-)

Very much so, frightening! I am glad you found some humor in his fall. I tend to find it funny to be used as a device to signal impending demise in movies 🙂
Thank you for reading!

The rhythm of that second stanza is astounding, and the imagte of racing as ‘gust of wind’ startling. Nice word choice.

This is dark and intense. Got my heart pounding. (And that would be my luck- tripping on a shoelace as I run from death!)

Painful and dark. Felt that gust of wind as the razor blade sliced his skin. Well done.

Thank you for reading, Jo-Anne! It was dark but that’s where my mind went immediately when I saw the prompt so I ran with it a bit.
